Wings & Swings Playground Initiative

Our very first concept brought to action, this initiative aims to create inclusive, sensory-friendly public play spaces that are safer, more accessible, and welcoming for people of all abilities across Australia.

Envisioned as a blueprint for ongoing collaborative regional development opportunities, The Airlie Fairy Foundation’s Wings & Swings Playground Initiative aligns government, local industry and public support with charitable values to deliver much-needed community infrastructure.

And our first Wings & Swings playground will soon be underway.

Currently being developed in partnership with Shoalhaven City Council, this community-guided project seeks to transform a local North Nowra NSW playground into an active space where children of all abilities can play, learn, explore, and connect.

Planned improvements include enhanced accessibility, sensory-focused play elements, improved pathways, shade structures, soft-fall surfaces, inclusive and engaging design features, and fully enclosed play areas that promote both safety and independence.

Located just moments from Airlie's home and school, this project carries special significance for our family and serves as a lasting tribute to her legacy, and to the kindness of a community that supported us during our darkest days.

A beacon for struggling families to find community and connection with each other, our Wings & Swings playgrounds are a place to be seen, to be heard, and to rediscover a sense of hope and belonging.
